Linocut Workshop: Chinese New Year Prints

Presented by Australian-Peranakan Printmaker Jennifer Lim
Description

Celebrate the Year of the Goat with Linoleum Printing!

Date: Tue, 10 February, 2015

Time: 10am - 12.30pm

Venue: Jennifer Lim Studio, Toa Payoh

Fee: $120 (inclusive of materials and refreshments)

Lino is easy to carve and can quickly produce fantastic results! Learn the basics of linocut printing and create single-colour prints in this 2.5-hour workshop. All materials are provided and you'll take home 10 of your own hand-pulled prints and block to display.

Participants will learn about image transfer, carving, proofing and editioning from a friendly Australian artist. Choose from selected Chinese New Year papercut-inspired designs or bring your own. We’ll be printing in red or black ink or a combination!

Materials provided will include linoleum blocks, lino cutters, brayers, water-based inks, transfer paper and acid-free papers. Linocut printing packs will also be available for you to print at home later. Art frames can also be purchased and I’ll be happy to help frame your work.

Participant numbers limited to four persons for maximum student-teacher interaction. Please bring along an apron or old t-shirt.

Join me for lunch afterwards and see local Chinese New Year decorations!
